Second Natural Occurrence of KFeS2 (Hanswikeite): An Inclusion in Diamond from the Udachnaya Kimberlite Pipe (Siberian Craton, Yakutia)

چکیده
Potassium sulfide KFeS2 (hanswilkeite) has been identified in polymineralic inclusions a diamond from the Udachnaya kimberlite pipe (Siberian craton, Yakutia). This is second occurrence of hanswilkeite nature and first one mantle-derived samples. Sulfide monoclinic, space group—C 2/c. Its crystal structure consists chains with K interstices. The tetrahedra are centered by iron ions linked edges, thus forming [FeS2] frameworks. strongest lines electron diffraction powder pattern 7.05 Å—(200); 5.34 Å (02¯0); 3.05 (22¯0), angles between directions <22¯0/02¯0>—60° <22¯0/200>—30°. found as discrete phase within consisting apatite, ilmenite, chondrodite, phlogopite, dolomite, fluid phase. data obtained composition (KFeS2) inclusion other rare minerals (chondrodite, Mg-apatite, Cr-ilmenite) primary testify to important role metasomatic processes formation.

Uncertainty-Based Grade Modelling of Kimberlite: a Case Study of the Jay Kimberlite Pipe, EKATI Diamond Mine, Canada
Understanding uncertainty in resource models is a significant requirement of ore deposit evaluation. Uncertainty analysis allows the modeller to explicitly quantify the risk around their estimate, along with provide high/low estimates for mine design, assess project up/down-side, model financial forecasts, and reconcile the deposit after mining. Geostatistical simulation is one method that can ...

Consolidated bodies of polycrystalline diamond with grain sizes less than 100 nm, nano-polycrystalline diamond (NPD), has been experimentally produced by direct conversion of graphite at high pressure and high temperature. NPD has superior hardness, toughness and wear resistance to single-crystalline diamonds because of its peculiar nano-textures, and has been successfully used for industrial a...
متن کاملThe Importance of Kimberlite Geology in Diamond Deposit Evaluation : A Case Study from the DO27/DO18 Kimberlite, NWT, Canada
Diamonds formed during the Proterozoic and Archaean and are in-homogenously distributed in the mantle below Archaean cratons. Kimberlite magmas usually form well within the diamond stability field and physically incorporate seemingly random amounts of diamonds during their ascent through the mantle. The diamond content of a kimberlite magma arriving at the earth’s surface is defined by ascent p...
